The skeletonised movement is the entire dial. The Roman numeral hour markers — one of the Santos's most recognisable design elements — are formed from the movement's own bridges, their structure both decorative and mechanical simultaneously. The architecture of the manually wound movement is fully exposed through the open case, with the gears, wheels, and ruby jewels visible in their working positions. The Cartier name is retained at the top of the dial — the only text on an otherwise purely mechanical composition. Blued-steel sword-shaped hands sweep across the movement in the signature Cartier colour, providing the only visual reference point against the silver mechanical architecture beneath.
